Gross application, before wind drift and evaporation losses. Use your gun's nozzle chart for GPM and wetted diameter at your pressure.
How long to put an inch on?
How many pumping hours it takes to water the whole field, which tells you if one reel can keep up.
Pumping time
60.3 hours
1,086,160 gallons · 2.5 days around the clock
1 acre-inch = 27,154 gallons. Gross water pumped, before losses.
Which OCMIS reel fits my field?
Searches every OCMIS hose option for the smallest one that reaches your field.
The gun throws past the end of the hose, so the hose can be about one radius shorter than the field.
Hose needed: about 1,070 ft

A starting point, not a final spec. Pump pressure and friction loss decide the final hose size, and we check that before quoting.
The formulas
- Application depth (in) = 96.3 × GPM ÷ (lane spacing ft × travel speed ft/hr)
- Travel speed (ft/hr) = 96.3 × GPM ÷ (lane spacing ft × target inches)
- Acres per pull = lane spacing × (hose pulled + wetted radius) ÷ 43,560
- Average rate under the gun (in/hr) = 96.3 × GPM ÷ (π × radius² × arc ÷ 360). Keep it below your soil's intake rate to avoid runoff.
- Lane spacing as a share of wetted diameter: 80% with no wind, 70–75% to 5 mph, 60–65% to 10 mph, 50–55% above 10 mph (USDA-NRCS guidance).
- Water: 1 acre-inch = 27,154 gallons.
